Great, but needs some explanation

You did a really good job putting a new spin on a classic. The graphics fix nicely. The music is nice. But I think the experience would be greatly improved if before each level starts you have a bubble or something that told you what the twist is. That way you don't have to constantly be trying to guess what you had in mind for the level. I also think it'd be improved if on levels like five if you made the blocks fall down so that the spaces don't build up so much.

Amusing tool

I like the concept. The link you posted says it can't be found. I'm guessing it's related to experiment Richard Dawkins wrote for "The Blind Watchmaker". It's well done. Though, have you considered modifying it so that if part of the string is correct it will keep that and just try to generate the rest of the word? I chose banana and it still hasn't got there after almost 20,000 tries.

HydroEmperor responds:

It was based off Jesse Anderson's work, the link may only work in the UK since its from the BBC.

Having it save letters is a good idea but defeats the purpose, Maybe I'll add it as an option if I ever revisit the project.

And yeah, the more letters you add the less lightly it is to work, a single letter took about 720 tries for me but typing out the word "LOL" still isn't finished for me and its up to 847076 attempts, Silly old chimp.

Freakin' genius!

This is hillarious! Having the main character resent you is such a cool twist to make this a completely unique take on the genre. I set out to get myself killed and got the coolest ending I've ever seen to a video game. I hope you re-visit it and finish all the paths.

I really want to like this.

This game would be such an addictive way to pass a few hours but the controls just don't do it for me. I like moving with WASD, but attacking with the number keys while trying to move with WASD is not workable, or at least not comfortable. I think moving by clicking doesn't work out too well. I'd much rather be able to move with WASD, and attack by clicking. When I could select the spells with either the number keys or with the mouse wheel. Given what a mess it is to move and attack at the same time, you take too much damage because you can't really get away from your attackers. As well, it sucks to have to restart the wave when you die. I think it'd be much better off to have a respawn option (Probably with some sort of penalty that you don't get for restarting the wave.) With some work I think this game would be more addictive than crack.

TehCybernerd responds:

yeah, i see your point. personally i like the clicking to move, but then maybe i'm just too used to it from hours upon hours of testing. i hadn't thought of the mouse wheel for spell selection though. that's an interesting idea. let's hope it gets included in the sequel.

thing about respawning mid-wave is that there are way more values to save/load. i'm tired of coding. i promise the next one will be better.

This may be my favourite escape game.

I absolutely loved this game. The music was the best part. I think the cellos were used perfectly to set a bit of a creepy atmosphere. The puzzles were rather challenging without being overly difficult. The map system was incredibly useful. The graphics were nicely done. Though the pieces you put on the silver disc seemed like they didn't quite fit in as well as they should have. All in all, this was a really great game.

selfdefiant responds:

Thanks!

Solid gameplay

I think this is a great take on this type of game. The dog sprite amuses me. I like the music. Though it could possibly use some SFX when your rocket is thrusting. And the SFX for when you die seems to play a bit late. Other than that it's really cool.

Pretty basic and seems unfinished, but cool

The information is pretty basic information. And it seems that it's not yet finished because the main menu has three blank spots. But it's cool that you're putting out information that could help someone else learn the program. Though wouldn't it be better to do this for a more recent release since Adobe is currently on CS 5 something? I like that it's clean looking and doesn't try to add unnecessary music or animation.

iloveicelollies responds:

I suppose. I don't think that my college has a license for CS5.1 yet though xD Thanks for the criticism!

Much better than part 1.

Although part 1 was good, this game is so much better. I love the gameplay and puzzle element when you get your sister. Though I found a spot on Camera 10 where you can get stuck. If you come down from the room above (by the beam of light) and crawl into the hole just on your left you can't get out. Though it's not a huge deal to just quit and continue.

Has potential, but needs some fixing

I like that it's quick to get into and has a solid turn based attack system. The graphics are nice.

Though I did run into a problem when the battle would end when neither the enemy or I was out of HP. Most recently it happened when fighting "Bloody". It's now stuck on the add screen and the add won't go away. I think it'd be a good idea to get rid of the full screen ads and just stick with the smaller ones in the side.

The other problem I had was that I couldn't allot my upgrade points to the same trait more than once per level. For instance if I wanted to add all three points to my speed it would only let me add one or two points. Then I'd have to spend my remaining points on a different trait.

I think this game would be an enjoyable game to get into to if the bugs were fixed.
